UAAP men’s volleyball: FEU slams NU, UE denies UP

MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University produced a season-opening upset after sweeping National University, 25-12, 25-18, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament Saturday at Filoil Flying V Center.

Richard Solis led the Tamaraws with nine points while John Paul Bugaoan and Jude Garcia added eight points apiece.

Bryan Bagunas had 15 points to lead the defending champions who played without setter Kim Dayandante who was deemed ineligible three days before the start of the tournament.

In the other game, University of the East brushed off University of the Philippines in four sets, 20-25, 25-10, 25-22, 25-21.

Clifford Inoferio led the Red Warriors with 14 points while Lloyd Josafat added 13 points with Al-jhon Abalon and Geric Ortega had 10 points apiece.

John Mark Pillente put up a game-high 17 points to lead the Fighting Maroons.
