Centro Escolar University went on a blistering third quarter run en route to a 93-76 drubbing of Diliman College-Gerry’s Grill in the 2019 PBA D-League Tuesday at Paco Arena in Manila.
Senegalese big man Maodo Malick Diouf shone on both ends with 15 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and two blocks while Tyron Chan and Rich Guinitaran were instrumental in CEU’s pivotal 12-0 tear at the start of the third period.
“Actually, I’m surprised with the way we played today. I’m surprised with the energy and I’m happy with the way the boys were able to block out the NCRAA and come out with a lot of energy,” said CEU coach Derrick Pumaren.
Chan registered 15 points, 11 coming in the third quarter. He also grabbed six rebounds while Guinitaran had 13 points, five boards and two steals.
The Scorpions kept their foot on the gas pedal to stretch the lead to 25 in the final frame.
Kevin Gandjeto paced Diliman-Gerry’s with 18 points and nine rebounds.
