MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University snapped University of Santo Tomas’ winning run, 2-1, then won by default over Trinity University of Asia, 3-0, on Sunday to forge a four-way tie for second place in the 2nd National Collegiate Billiards League (B-League) being held at the Star Billiards Center in Grace Village, Quezon City.
The FEU Tamaraws struck through Danrisse Inductivo, who subdued Cedric Gonzales, 7-5, in the 9-ball competition; and Rocky Alcazar and Angelo Escosia, who nipped Carl Cruz and Gerthee Estrella, 5-4, in the 10-ball doubles.
Rodlin John “RJ” Bautista averted a shutout loss for the Growling Tigers when he trounced Mark Lacey, 7-5, in the 10-ball competition.
The Tamaraws climbed to 25 points in a tie with AMA Computer U, Fatima and Letran.
AMA won by default against Centro Escolar U, 3-0; then edged Ateneo, 2-1. Fatima also won by default over Technological University of the Philippines, 3-0; then stunned UST, 2-1.
Letran tripped Pasig Catholic College, 2-1, and Trinity, 2-1, respectively.
Though saddled by the twin losses, the Growling Tigers retained the lead with 27 points.
Reigning titlist Xavier, Arellano and Claret School hurdled their respective rivals to share top spot in the junior division with 12 points each.
