PBA D-League: San Beda overcomes Perpetual

MANILA, Philippines—San Beda brushed off NCAA rival University of Perpetual Help, 85-75, in the PBA D-League Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena.

The Red Lions were down 54-53 in the second half before James Canlas sparked his team to go on a 12-0 run to take a 65-53 lead in the fourth quarter.

Canlas eventually finished with 15 points, 11 of which were scored in the second half, with four rebounds, two assists, and a block.

“James did a good job in the third. He really separated us from Perpetual,” said eight-time PBA D-League champion coach Boyet Fernandez.

Donald Tankoua was the Red Lions’ man in the middle finishing with 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.

Clint Doliguez became San Beda’s second-best paint patroller with 11 points and seven rebounds while Evan Nelle orchestrated the offense with 11 points and eight assists.

Ben Adamos, who once played for San Beda, led the Altas with 16 points, three rebounds, and two blocks.
