Scribes honor Nat’l paddlers
The PH-Go For Gold dragon boat team gets a much-deserved recognition.
The Philippine Canoe Kayak and Dragonboat Federation paddlers who brought home five gold medals from last year’s world championships will be recognized during the PSA (Philippine Sportswriters Association) Annual Awards Night this Tuesday at The Manila Hotel.
Hermie Macaranas, Ojay Fuentes, drummer Patricia Bustamante and steersman Maribeth Caranto led the Go For Gold-backed PH squad.
Article continues after this advertisement“We are firm believers in equality in sports and we hope that we can encourage more women to join not just dragonboat, but all sports,” said Go For Gold’s Jeremy Go, who also supports cycling, triathlon, wrestling, sepak takraw and skateboarding.
Lito Tacujan, former PSA president and who served as Philippine Star Sports editor for 32 years, will also be given a special recognition for his contribution to sports journalism.
