Alab-Pilipinas still got Mono’s number

Defending champion San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas asserted its mastery over Mono Vampire with an emphatic 78-59 triumph on Saturday to solidify its hold of top spot in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) Season 9 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Renaldo Balkman pumped in 31 points and got four steals, while fellow import PJ Ramos notched 16 points and 19 rebounds that went with seven assists for the Filipino ballclub which improved to 16-3.

Alab poured it on in the third period, extending the lead to 15 points to silence the home crowd at Stadium 29.

Alab swept its season series against Mono, which dragged the Filipino team to a five-game finals series last season. —CEDELF P. TUPAS
