The Olympics will be the next goal for the Philippine Sportswriters Association’s top athletes.

Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, golfers Yuka Saso, LK Go and Bianca Pagdanganan and skateboarder Margielyn Didal were named Athletes of the Year Tuesday by the country’s oldest media organization for their golden feats in last year’s Asian Games.

The five athletes provided the four golds in the Indonesia Asiad—and their disciplines are all calendared in the Tokyo Games.

“I’m training hard and trying to get ranking points to get into the 2020 Olympics,” Didal told the Inquirer. The Cebu lass is currently ranked 14th in the world and if she keeps that spot, she would qualify for the Tokyo Olympiad.

“I think if you’re in the top 20 or 30, you’re in,” she said. “So I just hope to keep improving my ranking.”

The National Golf Association of the Philippines had already said it will provide its golf trio with every opportunity to qualify for the Summer Games.

Diaz, meanwhile, is expected to compete in a new weight class in Tokyo.
