MANILA, Philippines—Geje Eustaquio may still be taking his time after losing his ONE World flyweight championship, but he promised that there are no off days for him.

It’s been more than two months since Eustaquio dropped the strap to Adriano Moraes in ONE Championship’s first trilogy in ONE: Hero’s Ascent in Manila.

The 29-year-old from Team Lakay, though, has kept himself busy training especially with the possibility of another fight in either April or May.

“We’re looking forward for a fight around April or May but there are no specific dates, no specific opponents, as of now he just told me that it’ll be around those two months,” said Eustaquio Thursday at Gloria Maris in Gateway during Team Lakay’s media lunch.

“As of now my plan is to develop a lot of weapons, put it on my arsenal so when the time comes I’ll be 101 percent ready. I have a lot of surprises for the viewers.”

Eustaquio was the division’s undisputed champion for around seven months after he beat Moraes in the unification bout in June 2018 but his first defense of the title ended in a unanimous decision loss to the Brazilian in January of 2019.

That was the third fight between the two rivals with Moraes taking the first win back in September of 2014, and a fourth fight isn’t something that Eustaquio looks forward to.

Eustaquio spends his time outside of the gym riding his bike in the mountains of Baguio and also being a father to his four-year-old son Cage.

“Mixed martial arts is still my priority and if I have to divide my time 40 or 50 percent of it would be spent on MMA,” said Eustaquio. “But life is not all about the sport. We have different responsibilities, different social obligations, and we have to spend our time wisely.”

“My son, he’s my everything.”
