MANILA, Philippines—Disappointment usually forces people to either sulk or work even better, and NorthPort forward Sean Anthony chose the latter.
Anthony’s career has been on a steady rise, having figured in the MVP race in the past PBA season.
Despite this improvement, though, the energetic forward has yet to crack the All-Star team in his nearly decade long career in the PBA.
“Find it odd that I’ve been put in the BPC (Best Player of the Conference)/MVP rankings the last couple of years but have never been selected for an All-Star game,” posted Anthony in his Twitter account Thursday.

Anthony, indeed, has changed his game from being a defensive dynamo to a potent offensive threat.
He started his career averaging 7.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in the 2010-11 season and those numbers steadily increased throughout the years.
Anthony had a stellar 2017-18 season wherein he averaged 16.4 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.0 steals for the Batang Pier eventually finishing in the fifth spot of that year’s scoring leaders.
“Once again it’s out of my control so it’s back to my grind,” said Anthony.
In the first five games NorthPort played this season, Anthony is averaging 20.4 points, the second-best mark in the league behind teammate Stanley Pringle who norms 22.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.4 steals.
“I control the work I put in to get better everyday and I will continue to do so,” said Anthony.
