Air Padda out as Adamson Lady Falcons head coach

MANILA, Philippines—Air Padda has been axed as Adamson University’s head coach three games into the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament.

Rogelio Getigan, the head coach of Kings Montessori School’s girls’ volleyball team, is replacing Padda as the head coach of the Lady Falcons, according to a statement by Adamson University.

Padda, however, will remain in the team’s bench for the remainder of the season as the Lady Falcons try to bounce back from their 0-3 record.

“The administration expresses its gratitude to coach Airess Padda for mentoring the team through two UAAP seasons,” said Adamson in the statement. “She will, however, be still part of the coaching staff.”

Padda started her career with Adamson in Season 79 but her first year with the Lady Falcons produced just one win against 13 losses.

The Lady Falcons nearly entered the Final Four in Season 80 with a 6-8 record but settled for the fifth spot in the standings.

This wasn’t the first time Adamson had to change coaches in the middle of the tournament when in 2016 it had to give double duties to Domingo Custodio to become the mentor of both the men and women’s programs after Sherwin Meneses left the team eight games into Season 78.
