CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela— Vietnam’s Duy Thuc Huynh won the gold in the final round of the 2000-meter steeplechase in the 14th SEA Youth Athletics Championship results at Ilagan City Sports Complex on Saturday here.
Huynh clocked 6:10.70 en route to the gold while his compatriots, Thi Kim Phuong Le and Thu Quyen Nguyen made it a one-two finish by clocking 2:14.34 and 2:17.99, respectively, in the girls’ 800-m steeplechase.
Another Vietnamese, Thanh Sang Nguyen, clocked 1:58.59 to bag gold in the boys 800-m steeplechase, winning over Timor Leste’s Roberto Belo Amaral Soares who clocked 1:59.41 and settled for silver. Philippine bet Jeshrelvan Ombid settled for bronze.
Thailand’s Natthicha Sengna clocked 15.40 for the 100-m hurdles gold, edging Philippine bet Princess Jean Nalzaro (15.61).
In high jump, Peerapat Insuwan of Thailand bagged gold with a 1.93-m leap while Pua Wei Kai of Singapore tabbed silver with a similar output but after taking more tries.
