CCP Bobcats keep cheerleading title

MANILA, Philippines—Three-time national champion Central Colleges of the Philippines bested its rivals from the UAAP to retain its title in the National Cheerleading Championships NCR qualifiers at the SM Mall of Asia.

Known as the Bobcats, CCP scored a total of 292 points after wonderful performances in the basic elements, stunts and tumbling categories.

“We are proud to have won the NCR qualifiers again”, said Bobcats head coach Arnold Villanueva. “This season will be tougher with the entry of FEU. But we will be ready. I’m excited.”

The Tamaraws, who placed third in the UAAP cheerdance competitions, finished with 288 points after winning the tosses category.

Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion placed third  for the second straight year. The Blue Babble topped the pyramids category en route to a 257.5 total.

De la Salle University, which created a surprise by finishing second to the University of the Philippines in the UAAP cheerdance, finished fourth, followed by Rizal Technological University. University of Pasay copped 6th, Lyceum University (7th), and Unibersidad De Manila (8th).
The top 8 finishers advanced to the national finals slated next month.

In the high school division, reigning national titlist Parañaque National High School also kept its NCR title. Saint Anthony Seagulls finished second. The NCC is an official partner of Libre Varsity Wars.
