PLDT storms past Sta. Lucia; Wilson shines as Cignal survives major challenge from Foton

PLDT Home Fibr and Cignal HD took different routes to victory on Saturday night in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.

PLDT stormed to its third victory after dismantling Sta. Lucia Realty, 25-17, 25-23, 25-18. The Power Hitters improved to 3-2, while inflicting on the Lady Realtors their fifth defeat in six games.

Earlier, Cignal survived a major fight from Foton to score a thrilling 15-25, 25-22, 21-25, 25-13, 21-19 victory.

Erica Wilson scored 29 points for the HD Spikers, who scored their fourth win in six matches and handed the Tornadoes their fourth straight defeat.

“We fought together as a team. This is a big victory for us,” Wilson said. “I guess everyone really wanted this win. And hopefully we pick up more wins like this is the coming days.”

Ana Artemeva chipped in 16 points, while Rachel Anne Daquis had nine for Cignal.

Courtney Felinski led Foton with 23 points, while Elaine Kasilag added 14.
