Generika snaps 6-game skid, nips Foton in 5 sets
MANILA, Philippines – Generika-Ayala applied the brakes on its six-gamer skid and edged out Foton in five sets, 25-21, 25-22, 19-25, 20-25, 15-11, in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Center on Thursday.
The Lifesavers, who failed to score a victory in their first six outings, improve to a 1-6 card, tying the Tornadoes who have racked up six straight losses after their opening game win.
Article continues after this advertisementFoton held a 4-0 lead at the start of the fifth set when the Lifesavers went on a scoring surge to take a 10-5 lead.
Although the Tornadoes were able to hang on, Fiola Ceballos towed Generika to match point and completed her heroics with a service ace.
Lifesavers head coach Sherwin Meneses said he hopes the win could be a start of a string of victories heading into the second round of the eliminations.

“The most important thing for us is our conditioning because right now my players are in top shape,” he added.
“They don’t get tired even in this kind of game where it’s really close.”
Kanjana Kuthaisong finished with a game-high 25 points to lead Generika-Ayala while Ceballos put up 20 points while Kseniya Kocyigit added 11.
Courtney Felinski led the Tornadoes with 24 points while Geneveve Casugod and Carmina Aganon combined for 30. / gsg
