June Mar Fajardo had his best week yet early in the season.
The reigning five-time MVP was an unstoppable force as he spearheaded San Miguel Beer’s pair of wins over NLEX and NorthPort.
The 6-foot-10 center averaged 33.5 points on 86 percent from field, 16 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his previous two games to earn the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week award.
Fajardo posted 27 points, 13 rebounds and two assists and made 10 of his 13 shots in a 121-111 victory over NLEX on Friday.
He followed it up with a 40-point, 19-rebound performance in a 113-107 win over NorthPort, which simply couldn’t do anything to slow down Fajardo, who went 14-of-15 from the field.
His production against the Batang Pier was his best game since registering 42 points and 20 rebounds in Game 5 of their title-clinching win in last season’s Philippine Cup Finals over Magnolia.
The Beermen have now won four in a row to climb to solo third with a 6-3 record behind second-running Rain or Shine (7-3) and league-leading Phoenix (8-2).
