PBA D-League: Letran recovers, routs McDavid
Petron-Letran recovered after blowing a big lead to beat McDavid, 89-64, in the 2019 PBA D-League Monday at Paco Arena in Manila.
The Knights squandered a 17-point lead in the second quarter after McDavid fought back and closed within four, 58-54, with 1:16 left in the third period.
Letran regained control in the final frame thanks to a 10-0 burst as McDavid never threatened again.
“It’s a good win for a young team against a veteran team,” said Letran coach Bonnie Tan. “Again, we’re here to learn and to get experience.”
Jeo Ambohot had a near double-double with 17 points and eight rebounds while Jerrick Balanza collected 12 points, four assists and two steals for Letran (2-1).
Tan said the Knights let their guards down after pulling away in the second period.
“We relaxed but we’ll learn from games like these,” he said.
Dahrrell Caranguian scored 15 points and was the lone bright spot for McDavid, which dropped its third straight game.
