As far as the Philippine Olympic Committee is concerned, everything is running smoothly in the country’s preparations for hosting the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Ricky Vargas, the POC president, gave the assurance on Thursday that the Philippine hosting of the Games on Nov. 30-Dec. 11 will proceed as planned in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc).

“Phisgoc is working very hard every day and we just have to work together with the PSC,” said Vargas during Thursday’s  POC general assembly at Meralco multipurpose hall.

Vargas spearheads the groundwork for the Games with PSC chair Butch Ramirez and Phisgoc chair and former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano.

“We’re trying to set up a meeting together, so we can start taking hold with what is happening,” said Vargas.

The PSC has taken the initiative to drumbeat the SEA Games on March 26 at the Rizal Memorial baseball field with the Go Pilipinas Go program, a gathering of the country’s past and present sports heroes to motivate the national athletes.
