Ready for All-Filipino clash as Dasmariñas, Demecillo make weight for ‘Rising Stars’

MANILA, Philippines—Michael Dasmariñas and Kenny Demecillo both made weight for their IBF World bantamweight title eliminator during the weigh-ins of Rising Stars Friday at Newport Mall.

Dasmariñas (28-2-1) weighed in at the bantamweight limit of 118 lbs while Demecillo (14-4-2) was a shade lighter at 117.5 lbs.

The winner between Dasmariñas and Demecillo will have a chance to face IBF World bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodriguez of Puerto Rico who has a perfect record of 19-0.

Dasmariñas is on a 10-fight winning streak while Demecillo has won four of his last five matches.

Rene Cuarto (105 lbs) and Samuel Salva (105 lbs) also made their weight for their IBF World minim weight title eliminator.

Rene Cuarto (16-1-1) and Samuel Salva (16-0) also made weight after both hit the scales at 105 lbs for their IBF World minimum weight title eliminator.

The winner between the two Filipino fighters will then face DeeJay Kriel (15-1-1) of South Africa.

All the other fighters have made their weights except for Adam Diu Abdulhamid and Prell Tupas who, coincidentally, will face each other in a junior welterweight bout.

Abdulhamid weighed in at 149 lbs, which is nine lbs more than the 140-lb limit of his weight class and is even two lbs heavier than the welterweight limit.

Tupas, meanwhile, weighed in at 144 lbs.
