ANTIPOLO CITY—Rookie Lycha Ebon sustained a right knee injury in Far Eastern University’s game against Adamson University in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday at Ynares Center here.

FEU’s physical therapist Marilou Regidor said Ebon may have suffered a sprain on her medial collateral ligament or on the quad tendon after landing awkwardly in the fifth set of the game the Lady Tamaraws won 30-32, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13.

“She’s doing a little bit better since I’ve put a brace on her right leg and it’s been stabilized but she’s still in pain,” said Regidor in Filipino. “According to my interview with her, she had planted her feet but she was in a squatting position when the knee twisted out.”

“There was a recoil when the knee twisted but I’m not saying that this is a major injury.”

Ebon managed to give FEU a 3-1 lead in the fifth set but she heard a pop when she tried to stand back up.

“I can’t say how long she’ll be gone, but it has to be at least a week so she has to recover during that time,” said Regidor.

Ebon, who’s set for an MRI on Monday, finished the game with 19 points and is still FEU’s leading scorer averaging 14.4 points per game.
