Searing Che’Lu windup keeps McDavid winless

Holding fort in the face of a searing rally by the enemy, Che’Lu Bar and Grill on Monday posted a 109-99 victory over McDavid in the 2019 PBA D-League at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Rey Suerte led the Revellers with 26 points, scoring all but two of his team’s last eight points in an impressive windup that resulted in Che’Lu’s first winning streak for a 3-1 record.

McDavid was rallying back and got to within eight, 101-93, before Suerte took over and help keep Che’Lu as one of the top teams in the Aspirant’s Group.

Chris Dumapig recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds coming off the bench, with Jessie Collado and Robbie Manalang shooting 13 points each as Che’Lu inflicted a fourth straight loss on McDavid.

Sean Manganti ignited Che’Lu as he poured 10 of his 11 points in the first half, where the team wrested control with a 40-21 first quarter lead.

Jhaps Bautista also dropped 10 points, eight assists, and six boards for the Revellers.

Despite winning back-to-back for the first time, coach Stevenson Tiu feels his squad still has a lot to learn.
