Trifactor lures tough foreign field

Filipino duathletes and triathletes get the chance to assess the Southeast Asian Games competition in Sunday’s Trifactor Championships at Clark Parade Grounds in Pampanga.

Also a qualifier for the 30th edition of the biennial meet which the country will host from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11, Trifactor Clark lured participants from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Macau.

The Philippines has ruled the swim-bike-run contest in the past two editions—Nikko Huelgas and Claire Adorna in the 2015 Singapore Games and two years ago in Malaysia, Huelgas repeated while Kim Mangrobang took the women’s gold in 2017.

Additionally, John Leerams Chicano and Adorna were silver medalists in 2017.

Duathlon (run-bike-run) was last held in the Thailand Games in 2007, with the Philippines’ Ryan Mendoza delivering the gold and Augusto Benedicto bagging bronze.
