UAAP volleyball: Lady Tams wear down Lady Warriors in 5-set thriller
MANILA, Philippines–Far Eastern University found aces in its sleeves in beating hard-fighting University of the East, 25-15, 16-25, 12-25, 25-22, 17-15, Saturday in the UAAP women’s volleyball at SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Ivana Agudo stepped up in the absence of injured star rookie Lycha Ebon to score four of her 12 points in the crucial part of the fifth set as the Lady Tamaraws posted their sixth win in nine games.
Jerilli Malabanan also played a pivotal role for FEU in the scrambling win, scoring back-to-back points and finishing with 11.
It was a stinging defeat for the Lady Warriors who erased two match points to come 15-14 in the deciding set until the pressure tolled on them forcing them to commit an error prior to Malabanan’s consecutive hits.
UE recovered from a lethargic first set to go up two sets to one through the efforts of Me-Anne Mendez who poured in 22 points. and Zilfa Olarve’s 13 points. The Lady Warriors fell to 2-7.
