UST bounces back, handily beats UE

MANILA, Philippines–University of Santo Tomas gained a foothold to the next round while kicking University of the East out of it after a 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 triumph Saturday in the UAAP women’s volleyball at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ysa Jimenez came off the bench to score 11 points for the Tigresses, who climbed to 7-4. UST also bounced back from a stinging loss to La Salle last week.
Kecelyn Gadones and and Caitlyn Viray also provided ample support for the alpha Tigresses Sisi Rondina and Eya Laure.
UE put up a semblance of a fight, leading 9-5 until UST put its act together a dealt the Lady Warriors their third successive defeat for a 2-9 record.
