Champs join Super Big Event derby
MANILA, Philippines—A dream showdown of sabong champions will highlight the “Super Big Event 6-Cock Derby (The President’s Cup)” on Feb. 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Spearheaded by the National Federation of Gamefowl Breeders (NFGB), the event comes on the heels of the 2011 National Bakbakan Stag Derby, which drew 4,437 entries.
The powerhouse cast include the team of Gov. Eddie Bong Plaza, reigning Bakbakan champion, who will represent the Gamefowl Breeders Association of Caraga (GBAC).
Rey Briones, the 2012 World Slasher Cup winner, will banner Rizal GBA. Top breeder Erning Zubia will carry the colors of Isabela and Gerry Ramos heads the Batangas Breeders Club. Vice Gov. Odi Fausto of Cagayan will represent Cagayan Valley GBA.
Other ‘Bakbakan’ champs on the list: Gov. Jayjay Suarez of Quezon, Gengen Arayata of Cavite and Al Garcia of Negros Occidental.
Each of the 32 member associations affiliated with the NFGB will have one entry each in the event presented by B-Meg Derby Ace, Thunderbird Enertone and Ninja Gamefowl Feeds, said NFGB president Ricoy Palmares Jr.
