MANILA, Philippines–Far Eastern University topped University of the Philippines, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 25-22, to crowd UST in third place in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Guino-o topscored with 22 points, 19  off spikes as the Lady Tamaraws endured the absence of rookie top scorer Lycha Ebon en route to their seventh win in 11 matches.

“This was a very important game for us so I tried my best out there,” said Guino-o.

Jerilli Malabanan added 17 markers for the Lady Tamaraws, who had 16 service aces to bolster their Final Four bid and create distance between them and the fifth-running UP at 6-5.

UP top gun Isa Molde saw action sparingly after spraining her left ankle two games ago.

“We worked hard for this win,” said FEU coach George Pascua. “We needed this win to get us back on track.”

Pascua also said the Lady Tamaraws are still “70 percent” and can still improve as the season goes on.
