June Mar Fajardo close to 6th PBA Best Player award

MANILA, Philippines–Very much at the peak of his powers, there just simply no slowing June Mar Fajardo down.

Fajardo, the reigning five-time PBA MVP, is on his way to yet another Best Player of the Conference award as he is head and shoulders above the rest in the statistical race.

The 29-year-old Fajardo is currently averaging 42.2 statistical points with NorthPort due Sean Anthony (37.1) and Stanley Pringle (36.0) his closest rivals.

Fajardo, who already holds the record with the most number of BPC plums, is tipped to win his sixth consecutive BPC award.

The San Miguel Beer center, however, still has far more important things to think about than another individual accolade with his Beermen set to face the TNT KaTropa in a do-or-die Game 3 on Wednesday night for a spot in the 2019 Philippine Cup semifinals.

Phoenix’s Calvin Abueva (34.9) and TNT’s Roger Pogoy (34.7) round out the top five.

In the stats race for Rookie of the Year, Columbian’s top pick CJ Perez is leading the pack with 28.7 average statistical points while NorthPort’s Robert Bolick and Rain or Shine’s Javee Mocon tied in second with 23.6.
