MANILA, Philippines–University of Santo Tomas needed a big finishing kick before disposing of University of the Philippines, 25-21, 25-12, 26-24, Wednesday and gaining a playoff spot for the Final Four of the UAAP women’s volleyball at FilOil Flying V Center.

Staring at two set-points, 22-24, after a Marian Buitre four-point binge, the Tigresses steadied their defense and forced the Lady Maroons to commit three successive errors.

Eya Laure then iced it with a block on Buitre for UST’s eighth win in 11 matches.

UST, which faces Far Eastern University and National University next, needs just one more win to clinch outright semifinals spot.

Sisi Rondina blasted away with 20 points but she got enough help from the rest of her teammates who are aching to make the Final Four after missing it the previous two seasons.

Laure finished with 10 points, while Dimdim Pacres had nine and Kecelyn Galdones eight points. Caitlyn Viray and Alina Bicar wound up with six points each with the later also tossing 14 excellent sets.
