Powered by Alex Eala, the Philippines qualified to the ITF World Junior Championships for 14-under girls after beating Hong Kong, 2-0, on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur.
The Filipinos, also composed of Alexa Joy Milliam and Jen Prulla, will compete in the 16-nation Worlds in August in the Czech Republic.
They beat Sri Lanka in the opening round before defeating Indonesia to make the quarterfinals. On Wednesday, the Philippines also bested New Zealand.
The Philippines, coached by former national player Czarina Mae Arevalo, last made it to the Worlds in 1993. —MARC ANTHONY REYES
