NU reclaims college title

National University reclaimed the men’s throne with a 3-1 conquest of Ateneo in the UAAP Season 81 lawn tennis tournament Saturday at  Colegio de San Agustin courts in Bulacan.

The Bulldogs won the best-of-three series, 2-1, for their fifth crown overall.

Jeric Accion and Justine Prulla provided the clincher for the Bulldogs, scoring a 6-3, 6-1 win over Julian Dayrit and Bong Gonzales in doubles.

Tournament MVP Wilson Oblea prevailed over Gab Tiamson 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 (7) in the opening singles, while Rookie of the Year Rucel Cero and AJ Alejandre rallied past Luke Flores and Erj Gatdula, 2-6, 7-6, 7-6 (8) in the first doubles to give NU a 2-0 start.
