MANILA, Philippines—A fastbreak play that has Arwind Santos all alone usually ends with the San Miguel Beer forward pulling off his patented Spiderman dunk.
Santos was by himself in the late in the third quarter of Game 2 against Phoenix in the semifinals and everyone already knew what was going to happen next.
Until Santos blew it as what was supposed to be a Spiderman dunk attempt resulted to a turnover after he lost the ball on his way up.

“Dapat nga Spiderman dunk pero parang ayaw ipagawa eh. May pumigil eh. Biglang parang dumikit yung isang paa ko kaya nag-alanganin ako tumalon kanina,” Santos recalled laughing.
(It was supposed to be a Spiderman dunk but it seems like something kept me from doing it. It’s like my foot stuck to the floor that’s why I hesitated with my jump.)
“Natawa rin ako nung huli. Sabi nga ng mga kasama ko, ‘Anong nangyari?’ Hindi, dumikit yung sapatos ko. Parang na-bad trip nga ako kanina. Pero wala na yon at least nanalo kami.”
(It was a funny moment in the end. My teammates even asked me, “What happened?” and I told them my shoes got stuck. Good thing we won.)
The 37-year-old Santos finished with seven points, six rebounds and two steals to help the Beermen go up 2-0 in the series.
