Juvic gets chance at redemption

04:57 AM April 22, 2019

Juvic Pagunsan banners the P5 million The Country Club Invitational starting Tuesday as he shoots to get back at the layout where he shot his worst score as a pro just two weeks ago.

The flamboyant Negros native, a regular in the Japan Tour, also guns for a win that would break a tie with Angelo Que for the most number of TCC titles won. They both have three.

Pagunsan came into the Philippine Open earlier this month fresh from dominating the Riviera leg of the PGT, only to miss the halfway cut after shooting an 86 in the second round marred by a fat 11 on the par-5 10th hole.

After that debacle, he tied for 22nd in the Luisita leg, even as Que will be coming into the 72-hole championship reserved for the top players of the local tour fresh from missing the cut in his last tournament in Japan.

Micah Shin, the Korean-American who grew up playing Apo Golf in Davao, is the defending champion.
