MANILA, Philippines—Even with still a game left for both teams, defending champion De La Salle and University of Santo Tomas are likely headed for a Final Four showdown.

The Lady Spikers stayed at the second spot after their sweep of University of the East, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19, Wednesday for a 10-3 card while UST is at the third with a 9-4 record.

La Salle head coach Ramil De Jesus said that his team is already looking at potential semifinal series against the Golden Tigresses.

FEATURED STORIES

“There really is no chance for us to meet FEU [Far Eastern University] in the semifinals, it really is UST,” said De Jesus, whose team will face the Lady Tamaraws on Sunday, in Filipino.

“Whether we win or we lose on Sunday, we will still face UST.”

Things, however, are still not set in stone since La Salle can get the top seed if it wins against FEU and Ateneo, the current no.1 team with an 11-2 record, loses to seventh-ranked University of the East.

If that scenario happens, La Salle will become the no.1 team by virtue of its elimination sweep of the Lady Eagles.

De Jesus, though, is already eyeing a matchup with UST despite the slim uncertainty of the events.

“After our Sunday game then we can really focus against UST,” said De Jesus.
