Petron and F2 Logistics write another chapter in their storied rivalry when they clash in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix best-of-three finals starting Tuesday, with former MVP Lindsay Stalzer itching to win this one against her former team.
The comely Stalzer is arguably one of the best foreign players ever to play in the country. But despite that, she didn’t get a call to play for the Blaze Spikers this time as the series starts at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
She steered Foton to a pair of titles before joining fellow American Hillary Hurley in leading Petron to the finals of the 2017 Grand Prix. Although they came up short against the Cargo Movers, Stalzer and the Blaze Spikers stormed back the following season to finally clinch the crown.
Stalzer was left unsigned in the off-season as the Blaze Spikers opted to tap their former imports Katherine Bell and Stephanie Niemer this year, prompting her to join the Cargo Movers as replacement to American-Italian Becky Perry.
And now, she’s sharing the same court with the Blaze Spikers again. Only this time, they’re on the opposing ends.
“Actually, I was pretty confident that we could make it this far. But obviously, the hardest challenge is still ahead of us. Playing against Petron in the finals would be the biggest challenge for this team,” said Stalzer.
