MANILA, Philippines–Petron is not giving up the title without a fight.
The defending champion got back at F2 Logistics, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-19, Thursday night to forge a deciding Game 3 in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix title series at FilOil Flying V Center.
The Blaze Spikers got the numbers from their imports and a help from their local counterparts to level the series at 1-1.
Game 3 is on Saturday also at the same venue.
Kath Bell banged in 27 points, while Stephanie Niemer banged in 23 points for Petron which also got 11 points from Mika Reyes.
The Cargo Movers’ Maria Jose Perez went berserk in the first set, pouring in 11 points to bail the Cargo Movers out of trouble after the Blaze Spikers kept the frame tight.
F2 was in the driver’s seat in the opening set, holding a 16-12 lead before Petron buckled down to work and forced a deadlock at 23 on a service ace by Aiza Pontillas.
But that’s until Petron put its act together with libero Denden Lazaro tightening up floor defense and mainstays Aiza Pontillas, Remy Palma and setter Rhea Dimaculangan helping up.
