Marcio Lassiter gets confidence boost after strong Game 2 showing
MANILA, Philippines—Marcio Lassiter may have had a dreadful start to the PBA Philippine Cup finals, but he feels he’s slowly turning things around.
After a scoreless outing in Game 1, Lassiter managed 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists in Game 2 to help the Beermen to a 108-101 win which leveled the series at 1-1.
“I definitely think I’m turning things around,” said Lassiter after the win. “In the first half I wasn’t that aggressive, I think it was maybe because of the fouls, but in the second half I was able to get more aggressive and I looked for my shots and they were able to come down in the end.”

In the opener, Lassiter, considered one of the deadliest shooters in the league, went 0-of-8 from the floor in nearly 33 minutes of play which didn’t bode well for the Beermen.
While Lassiter, slowly getting back his form, he nearly had another terrible night on the floor in Game 2.
The 31-year-old swingman scored just five total points in the first three quarters but he exploded for 10 points in the fourth quarter for the Beermen, including a late triple that gave them a 106-92 lead with 1:44 left to play.
And that shot may just be what he needs to finally get his groove back this series.
“That late three was a confidence booster because you kind of need one to fall down so I’m just hoping to build upon that and get some more good looks,” said Lassiter who went 4-of-13 from the field in Game 2.
“I got to thank my teammates honestly, they keep telling me to shoot it and it’s uplifting for me especially when they continue to support me, it means a lot. I just got to keep shooting.”
