Lady Eagles take crack at confident Lady Tamaraws

MANILA, Philippines–Far Eastern University only has one shot at making the UAAP Women’s volleyball Finals, but it doesn’t faze coach George Pascua.

The Final Four will be the true test of character, something Pascua believes his Lady Tamaraws clearly possess.

“This is all-out war. There are no excuses. The important thing is we focus on the game plan,” he said in Filipino.

That plan would need to work as the Lady Tamaraws clash against top-ranked Ateneo, needing to beat the Lady Eagles two straight times to advance to the title series.

Game time is at 4 p.m. at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Pascua is speaking with confidence with his crew coming off a victory over three-time defending champion La Salle that put the Lady Spikers’ “four-peat” drive in dire straits.

FEU is hoping to make the Finals for the second straight year despite losing key players from last year and prized rookie Lycah Ebon early in the season.

“Our morale is high. We have proven that we can beat La Salle, which we have not beaten in a long while. Now there’s no reason why we can’t beat Ateneo,” Pascua added. “We will work hard for it.”

The Lady Eagles have also displayed winning attitude throughout the elimination round, which they highlighted by winning 10 straight matches.

“But everything changes in the Final Four,” admitted Ateneo leader Kat Tolentino.
