MANILA, Philippines—University of Perpetual Help withstood a late run by CD14 Designs-Trinity University of Asia to win, 86-75, in the 2019 PBA D-League Season Monday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Tonton Peralta led the way for the Altas with 33 points while Charcos put the finishing touches to hold off the White Stallions down the stretch.
“We were a bit depleted but I’m proud of the guys. They’re able to maximize the playing time given to them. Good for them, good learning experience for the team,” said Perpetual Help coach Frankie Lim, whose side led by as much as 22 points in the third period, in Filipino.
The Altas (2-5) played without starting center Ben Adamos but drew collective effort from their players.
Charcos scored seven of his team’s last eight points to finish with 15 points that went with eight rebounds and four assists while JEfner Egan and Jielo Razon added 12 points apiece.
John Tayongtong and Bobby Balucanag brought Trinity to within seven, 78-71, with still 2:06 left before Charcos hit timely baskets.
Tayongtong paced the White Stallions, who stayed winless at 0-8, with 20 points while Balucanag had 18 points and 12 rebounds.
