Garcia eyes another surprise

Vannie Garcia sets out for a repeat of his surprise victory in the previous leg, this time in his trusty Honda EK, when the final leg of the Southern Series of the 2019 National Drag Racing Championships fires off on Saturday and Sunday at Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.

Garcia, of W. Autosport Vannitec Racing, used Allan Ararao’s Mitubishi Evo to post a new eighth-mile track record of 6.31 seconds and beat Jonathan Tiu in the Quick 8 final on April 7.

Allan Abrigo and Mark de Jesus also gun for a reprise of their wins in the Super Pro and Pro races of the national series sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines.

A huge field of drivers is seeing action this weekend, forcing organizers to hold the payoff phase of the knockout races on the second day.
