MANILA, Philippines—Towers Kai Sotto and AJ Edu are set to rejoin Gilas Youth in June for the team’s preparations for the Fiba U-19 World Cup 2019 in Greece.
According to ESPN5, Gilas Youth head coach Sandy Arespacochaga said the two towering youngsters are set to arrive early June just in time during the team’s training camp for the tournament that will take place from June 29 to July 7.
Sotto, the 7-foot-2 center from Ateneo, is in the United States for a personal boot camp for Greece while the 6-foot-10 Edu plays NCAA Division 1 with University of Toldeo.
“We’re practicing now, Kai and AJ are joining us first week of June,” said Arespacochaga in the report.
The youth team will also play in a pocket tournament in Doha, Qatar before heading off to Heraklion, Greece.
Arespacochaga said the team will also hold a training camp in Qatar’s capital coinciding with the pocket tournament.
Gilas Youth is pooled together with Argentina, host Greece, and Russia in Group C and will play its first game against the Greeks on June 29.
