UST, Ateneo team up to bring parents of Rondina, Bicar, Pacres to Manila

MANILA, Philippines—Sports really does bring people together.
University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo are playing in the finals series of the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament but supporters of both schools are working together for a kind gesture.
UST professor Faye Martel shared on Facebook that both the Thomasian and Atenean communities are raising funds to help get the parents of Golden Tigresses Cherry Rondina, Dimdim Pacres, and Alina Bicar to Manila to be in attendance for the rest of the series.
“Part of our drive is also to give the parents the pocket money they will need to make sure their visit would be memorable,” posted Martel in Filipino.
“Volleyball has done great things! Wherever we are, let’s help each other for the sake of these who will eventually become the faces of Philippine volleyball.”
Rondina and Pacres’ parents are in Cebu while Bicar’s are in Samar and all can still watch their children for the remainder of series after UST won Game 1, 25-17, 25-16, 25-20, Saturday.
