MANILA, Philippines—The support continues to pour in for the University of the Philippines’ men’s basketball team.
On Saturday, the Fighting Maroons and Frontrow, one of the biggest names in the health, beauty and wellness industry in the country, have formalized their partnership ahead of the upcoming UAAP Season 82.
“This is really a big thing because number one, we really needed the additional funds and number two, if you’re going to be supported by the leading brand, you need to make sure that you’re going to represent them well,” said UP head coach Bo Perasol during the ceremonial signing of contract and dinner held at Frontrow CEO Sam Verzosa’s fancy residence at Corinthian Gardens in Quezon City.
“You have a responsibility. That’s why it’s important that with everything that we’re doing, we need to think about not only UP but also all the sponsors that are making a lot of things happen for us,” added Perasol.
The entire UP team, including its star trio of Bright Akhuetie, Ricci Rivero and Kobe Paras, was present in the press conference which was also attended by Verzosa and Frontrow president Raymond “RS” Francisco, who are both UP alumni.
“The partnership between UP and Frontrow is just fitting because both share a passion for success,” Perasol, who steered the Fighting Maroons to their first UAAP Finals appearance in 32 years in Season 81, said.
Perasol hopes to maximize all the financial support coming in and this time, deliver the title to UP.
The Maroons definitely have the tools to go all the way in Season 82 with Rivero and Paras already cleared to join mainstays Bright Akhuetie and Juan Gomez de Liaño and form a star-studded core.
