PBA D-League: Go for Gold-CSB bags playoff spot, trumps lowly McDavid

MANILA, Philippines—Go for Gold College of St. Benilde booked a spot in the playoffs after trouncing McDavid, 119-101, in the 2019 PBA D-League Tuesday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

Clement Leutcheu posted 19 points and nine rebounds for the Scratchers, who improved to 6-3 in the Aspirants Group.

“We’re happy we made it to the quarterfinals,” said coach Charles Tiu. “That’s one of our goals this conference because it’s a very stacked conference.”

Leutcheu and Edward Dixon, who scored 10 of his 16 in the first quarter, led Go for Gold’s strong start.

The Scratchers grabbed an early 37-21 lead before extending it to as high as 31.

Five more players hit double-digit scoring for Go for Gold with Roosevelt Adams adding 13 that went with 10 rebounds, Justin Gutang contributing 12 points while Jeremiah Pangalangan, Prince Carlos and James Pasturan all chipping in 11 apiece.

McDavid, who drew a game-high 26 points from Jason Melano, ended its campaign at 1-8.
