Creamline opens title defense against Petro Gazz

A talented crop of imports coming from all over the globe will be seeing action when the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Season 3 Reinforced Conference gets off the ground Sunday.

Led by reigning champion Creamline, the six-team field will be allowed two imports each with the tournament to run until the second week of July.

“The teams are more competitive and at par with each other,” said PVL president Ricky Palou, who guested at the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum Tuesday at Amelie Hotel-Manila. “Every team is a contender, that’s why we expect exciting games.”

Creamline superstar Alyssa Valdez and BPI Globe BanKo open spiker Dzi Gervacio also graced the weekly forum.

“We want to defend our title. Our imports have been here since March so we’ve been practicing with them for more than a month now. Hopefully, the chemistry is already there,” said Valdez.

Kuttika Kaewpin of Thailand and Aleoscar Blanco of Venezuela will banner Creamline, which battles Petro Gazz at 4 p.m. at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Petro Gazz will have Wilma Salas of Cuba and Janisa Ivette Johnson of the United States as imports.

The other game pits newcomer Pacific Town Army against returning BaliPure at 2 p.m.
