Top Filipino riders from continental teams Go For Gold Philippines and 7Eleven Cliqq Road Bike Philippines brace for a punishing race that can boost their chances for slots in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Ismael Grospe Jr. and Daniel Ven Carino of Go For Gold will banner the country’s Olympic drive together with 7Eleven RBP’s Marcelo Felipe and Dominic Perez during the PRURide PH 2019 road race in Subic Bay beginning Friday.

Over 150 cyclists from 18 continental and eight local professional teams will join them during the three-stage bikeathon sanctioned by the UCI as a 2.2-category race that offers Olympic ranking points.

“Aside from the Olympic ranking points at stake, this is one of the few races in the Philippines, so they have to do their best and showcase their talents before family, friends and loved ones,” said cycling patron and Go For Gold team owner Jeremy Go.
