Muñoz highlights PXC29 event

MANILA, Philippines—Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Muñoz will add glamour to PXC 29 when he works the corner of Raja Shippen on Feb. 18 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Live MMA action will begin at 7 p.m. AKTV on IBC 13 will air the event at 9 p.m.

Shippen will battle Hawaii-based Filipino fighter Harris Sarmiento in the co-main event of the night. Shippen and Muñoz train at Reign Training Center in Orange County, California.

Muñoz, considerd as one of the best middleweight MMA fighters in the world, was set to fight last month but was forced to pull out at the last minute due to an injury.
Sarmiento will be fighting in the country for the third time. He won his lightweight title here against Ronnie Borja in PXC 26.

The main even of the night will feature Ale Cali of Davao going against Jesse Taintano of Guam for the PXC flyweight title. Ale has been impressive in his showing in his past two PXC fights, which includes a decisive win over Philip Parcon in 2010. This will be Ale’s biggest fight so far.

Pacific X-treme Combat (PXC), a mixed martial arts organization based in Guam, made its debut in the Philippines last year holding three high octane events. With its TV partnership with AKTV on IBC 13, it has become one of the country’s top MMA show.
