MANILA, Philippines—Two weeks from now, volleyball superstar Cherry Rondina will be graduating with a Bachelor of Physical Education at University of Santo Tomas.
But it won’t take long before Rondina goes back to school again to fulfill her aspirations of teaching.
“I will study again at UST, teaching units, because I really want to teach,” said Rondina in Filipino on Monday during the 2019 Collegiate Press Corps Awards Night where he was named UAAP Volleyball Player of the Year.

The 22-year-old Rondina said she only realized she wanted to teach just recently. Coaching, however, is an entirely different story.
“I just don’t see myself becoming a coach because for me, coaching would just give me problems,” Rondina, the UAAP Season 81 indoor volleyball MVP, said smiling.
Rondina, though, cleared she would consider that option only if it’s going to be an offer from her beloved school.
“If UST, why not? I love UST.”
And that overflowing love for the black and gold pushed Rondina to be the best version of herself.

Throughout her UAAP career, Rondina bagged four beach volleyball MVPs, led UST to four titles in the same event and spearheaded the Golden Tigresses to their first indoor volleyball finals appearance in eight years.
Rondina may have fallen short in bringing the Tigresses to the top after they lost to Ateneo in the championship round but the prolific spiker believes her teammates are capable of getting the job done next season.
“They’re still young and they’re going to gain more experience and together they’ll be a much stronger team.”
