Tenorio triple lifts Alaska Aces past Ginebra Gin Kings
One big shot came one after another, but Alaska’s LA Tenorio had the final say.
Tenorio knocked in the game-winning triple with 2.1 seconds left as the Aces clipped crowd-favorite Ginebra, 76-74, in the Phoenix PBA On Tour Saturday night at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.
Article continues after this advertisementIn a thrilling final minute, Tenorio also completed a rare four-point play that put the Aces back on top, 73-72, with 18.2 ticks left after Ginebra star Mark Caguiao nailed a long jumper.
Tenorio finished 23 points, including a 3-of-6 clip from three-point range, aside from dishing out five assists.
Cyrus Baguio topscored for the Aces, who climbed to second with a 2-1 record
Article continues after this advertisementKerby Raymundo nailed seven of his 12 points inside the last three minutes, the last on a jumper with six seconds left that gave the Gin Kings their final lead at 74-73.
The Kings dropped to 1-1.
Meanwhile, B-Meg Derby Ace guns for a third straight win against Petron Blaze even as Marcus Douthit finally gets going Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
With two nail-biting wins, the Llamados expect another rough sailing at 6:30 p.m. against the powerhouse Boosters, who have two straight losses in an uncharacteristic shaky start.
