Zedrick Borja and Samantha Corpuz came out on top during the Alaska Fortified IronKids event Saturday at WOW Recreation and Activity Center in Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
Borja, from San Pedro, Laguna, timed 5:33 minutes in the opening 400-m swim leg then held off Miguel Tayag and Jose Maria Tayag’s charge in the closing 3-km run part to score a follow-up to his victory at Vermosa last month.
He clocked 11:53 minutes in the run to finish with 18:20 for the gold medal in the 13-14 years division.
Miguel Tayag rallied with an 11:41-minute clocking in the run stage to finish second in 18:35 while Jose Maria Tayag took the bronze in 18:37.
Corpuz, meanwhile, dominated the girls’ 13-14 bracket with a 19-minute effort, beating Lahainah Digermo (22:02.5) and Princess Patilan (22:16.2) in the event that ushered in the Century Tuna Ironman 70.3 presented by Big Boss Cement on Sunday.
Aubrey Tom topped the 11-12 division in 12:39, besting even boys’ champion Gabriel Lozada, who timed 12:43.
