Far Eastern University held fort in the stretch on Monday to carve out a 66-63 win over Adamson in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup in San Juan.
It was the third win in five matches for the Tamaraws, who relished the chance to play—and beat—a top tier UAAP rival.
“Every time we play a UAAP team, it is a good gauge to see where we are in our preparations,” coach Olsen Racela said. “Especially a team like Adamson, which presses for 40 minutes. It is good to see the maturity of our players.”
Patrick Tchuente led FEU with 14 points while Ken Tuffin and Hubert Cani added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
In another seniors match, Emilio Aguinaldo College ended its stint here with an upset 78-69 win over the College of St. Benilde Blazers.
The Generals closed out with a 2-7 record.
JP Maguliano led EAC with 20 points while Marwin Taywan added 14, with Jethro Mendoza chipping in 11.
