Klitschko retains WBC heavyweight title

MUNICH – Vitali Klitschko retained his World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title with a unanimous points decision over Britain’s Dereck Chisora in a stormy clash at the Olympiahalle on Saturday.

The 40-year-old Ukrainian defended his crown for the 10th time and took his career record to 44 wins against just two defeats.

Klitschko, who spent a lot of time on the back foot, won the fight 118-110, 118-110 and 119-111.

Chisora, who had slapped the champion at the weigh-in and then spat water in Klitschko’s face before the bell, said he wanted a rematch and hit out at the Ukrainian.

“He came into my dressing room before the fight and tried to put me off,” said the 28-year-old Briton.

“The only thing that beat me tonight was experience. I don’t hold back. I keep coming and I want a rematch.”
